CONCEPT
In 2009 a design contest was organized by Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Each team was asked to submit a proposed design for a studio, intended for a guest lecturer who would live and work here for six months. The designers studied the allocation (the Gerrit Rietveld grounds) thoroughly, trying to integrate the studio into its surroundings naturally. During the design process, much focus was put on context and location, lighting, optimal use of space and finally the interaction between the artist and students. The building consists of one long rectangular room with separating elements, which have the function of kitchen, bathroom and storage.  Second place was achieved with this design.
